About DARE

The specific foci within DARE's broad aim was to:

  • Improve understandings of early education and how it can contribute to greater equity and social justice for children, practitioners and the wider community.
  • Explore equitable and innovative approaches to excellence and quality improvement in early education.

The research team consisted of full-time members of staff and postgraduate students. There were also several associate team members who contributed to research within the team. A major strength within the team was the strong practitioner base team members brought and the extensive background each had within the field of early childhood education.

The team was involved in a number of research projects and professional development activities including publications and seminars.

Those projects and activities focused on equity issues such as gender, race, culture, class, sexuality, ability.
